Strawberries

Fukushima strawberries are cultivated in various regions, from areas with abundant sunlight in winter to heavy snowfall zones, taking advantage of the local climate conditions. Sweet-tart, pop-in-your-mouth strawberries are packed with vitamin C and potassium but low in sodium, making them a diuretic and said to help prevent high blood pressure. Almost everybody loves strawberries, so growers all over the country are constantly looking for ways to make them taste even better and are steadily coming out with new cultivars.

Fukuharuka

People of all ages love Fukuharuka strawberries, a popular cultivar with large, exceptionally sweet berries balanced by just the right amount of tartness. They also have a distinctively clean, long conical shape that makes them a delightful gift as well.

Made Long-awaited Debut in the Winter of 2022

Yuyake Berry, or Sunset Berry, spreads happiness like a beautiful sunset, flooding the mouth with deliciousness and the heart with joy every time people eat them. Like the setting sun, each berry brings the hope of an even better tomorrow. Prefectural researchers crossed the Kaorino and Tochiotome cultivars, carefully selecting a starting crop of just 5,433 plants. They then conducted on-site testing across twenty locations, finally releasing the new strawberry nearly ten years after it was first hybridized. After judging 17,732 entries from all over Japan, the strawberry was named Yuyake Berry, after the orange hue of its vivid red colour.

Yuyake Berry

With a high sugar content and subdued tartness, Yuyake Berry strawberries are characterised by their remarkably pronounced sweetness. They also have an exceptional fragrance, and when you take a bite, the juicy fruitiness and gentle sweetness flood your mouth with a vibrant aroma. The berries are large, beautiful, and conical in shape, with a reddish colour tinged with orange. Because they are harvested early, they add a vibrant touch to Christmas and New Year's tables.
